› Find signed collectible books: 'The 80/20 Principle: The Secret of Achieving More With Less'
In 1897, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, in his study of the patterns of wealth and income, observed that the distribution of wealth was predictably unbalanced. He first discovered this pattern in 19th-century England and found it to be the same for every country and time period he studied. Over the years, Pareto's observation has become known as the 80/20 principle.
Now in 1998, Richard Koch takes a fresh look at the 80/20 principle and finds that the basic imbalance observed by Pareto 100 years ago can be found in almost every aspect of modern life. Whether you're investing in stocks, analyzing company sales, or looking at the performance of a Web site, you'll find that it's usually 20 percent that produces 80 percent of the total result. This means 80 percent of what you do may not count for much. Koch helps you to identify that 20 percent and shows you how you can get more out of your business, and life, for less. [via]

The bestselling author of phenomenally successful and continually vital The E-Myth Revisited presents the next big step in entrepreneurial management and leadership with E-Myth Mastery.
A practical, real-world program that is implemented real-time into your business, Gerber begins by engaging the reader in understanding why the entrepreneur is so critical to the success of any enterprise, no matter how small or large it may be, and why the mindset of an entrepreneur is so integral to the operating reality of the organization, of the small business, and the enterprise. He then covers seven essential skills:
Each of these seven skills is presented through a specific training module with corresponding tests and exercises that explain the content and principles to be learned, provide case studies and examples, as well as worksheets for applying those ideas to the business. Gerber ties it all together by helping readers put the pieces together in an E-Myth Business, an E-Myth Practice and an E-Myth Enterprise.
This is the book that will show you the difference between being an entrepreneur versus doing a job, how to get money when the bank won't give it to you, how to expand your customer base when big business moves in down the street, how to develop the best people when you can't afford to pay them competitive wages, how to increase the predictability of what your business is able to promise, and then how to keep that promise, every single time, no matter where you are or what you're doing.
Mastery is a business development program that helps you turn your company into a world-class operation...into a turn-key money machine!

Get Clients Now: A 28-Day Marketing Program for Professionals and Consultants, by business coach C.J. Hayden, lays out a very precise marketing and sales system actually designed to be completely customized for optimal effectiveness by anyone in the service industry. Employing a "cookbook model" to help readers create this individualized action plan, it first shows how to determine which ingredients are missing from current marketing and sales activities and then suggests the specific tools and tactics that will immediately get a successful effort underway. The truly unique part of this book, however, begins in chapter 6, which breaks down Hayden's explicit four-week system into 28 separate sections that are meant to be read and acted upon one day at a time. The volume's final part, called "The Strategies," then outlines a collection of practical "marketing recipes" that correspond to various plans of attack determined earlier in the process. Each offers realistic tips (on topics such as direct contact and follow-up, networking and referral building, and writing and publicity) that directly correspond to the personal goals, strengths, and weaknesses readers already have identified. Further advice and inspirational anecdotes from recognized experts, along with additional resources, are also interspersed throughout the text. --Howard Rothman [via]

Stef Ann Holm jumps from writing historical romance to contemporary romantic comedy with a yummy, exuberant splash-in-the-latté in Girls Night. Jillene McDermott is a widowed mom with few assets except her struggling coffee shop on Blue Heron Island, Java the Hut; her late husband's car, which she refuses to drive; and a winsome zest for success that defrosts the iced-over heart of true-crime writer Vince Tremonti. Vince has his own trauma to face--the living nightmare of a serial killer who has committed a dozen murders just to get a book deal authored by Tremonti. Lured by Jillene and her daughters, Claire and Faye, Vince fears his grotesque situation will taint the sweetness and light he finds with them. Add in the daughters' determination to find a new daddy for their mama, and Girls Night is tastier than a cinnamon-whipped, cream-laced frothy mug of small-town Americano. This one's a genuine winner--the McDermott girls, all three, will steal your heart, just as they do for the once-jaded Vince Tremonti! [via]

What happens when the bottlenecks that stand between supply and demand in our culture go away and everything becomes available to everyone?
"The Long Tail" is a powerful new force in our economy: the rise of the niche. As the cost of reaching consumers drops dramatically, our markets are shifting from a one-size-fits-all model of mass appeal to one of unlimited variety for unique tastes. From supermarket shelves to advertising agencies, the ability to offer vast choice is changing everything, and causing us to rethink where our markets lie and how to get to them. Unlimited selection is revealing truths about what consumers want and how they want to get it, from DVDs at Netflix to songs on iTunes to advertising on Google.
However, this is not just a virtue of online marketplaces; it is an example of an entirely new economic model for business, one that is just beginning to show its power. After a century of obsessing over the few products at the head of the demand curve, the new economics of distribution allow us to turn our focus to the many more products in the tail, which collectively can create a new market as big as the one we already know.
The Long Tail is really about the economics of abundance. New efficiencies in distribution, manufacturing, and marketing are essentially resetting the definition of what's commercially viable across the board. If the 20th century was about hits, the 21st will be equally about niches.

The techniques in "Live, Learn and Be Happy with Epilepsy," will help you build the inner power to do anything or become anything you want in life. The approaches in this book for dealing with epilepsy will enable you to reform a better direction in your everyday life.
This book will give you the strength, self- confidence and knowledge you need to gain to overcome having epilepsy and begin living life to its fullest. One of the main goals in this book is to help you recognize that life has much to offer. Life does not have to stop just because you have epilepsy.
This book is to shows you how to live with epilepsy, empowering you to take responsibility for your life and well-being. While seemingly revolutionary, the message is simple: It is important that people with epilepsy learn how to live with epilepsy and endure it.
If you do not learn how to deal with the obstacles that epilepsy imposes on you then you could end up destroying yourself emotionally and physically. One way to prevent this from happening is to develop a lifestyle that is suitable for your own needs. You need to be your own designer, creating pathways to a fulfilling future. This world has millions of opportunities just waiting for you to encounter. It does not matter what age you are. You can achieve anything you put your mind too even with epilepsy.
"Life deals us many hard blows that we often don't expect. I admire the fact that someone like Stacey Chillemi was thrown a curve ball that may have knocked many of us down to the point where many of us may not have wanted to get back up, but she did. It wasn't easy but she possesses a determined spirit that won't let her give up. A long awaited update of the popular 1988 handbook by Diane Wheeler Strauss, this book is divided into two main parts. The first seven chapters cover business information according to the formats in which it is made available.
The second part of the book covers specific topics within the area of business. Included are chapters on marketing; money, credit, and banking; and the many aspects of investment ranging from stocks through bonds, mutual funds, and futures and options. Recognizing the changes in information retrieval techniques since the first edition, special emphasis is placed on the Internet as a source of reliable, accurate, and timely information. Nevertheless, print resources have not been neglected, as they continue to provide a strong foundation for most collections.

[via]
