Ther.e are horvever darker sides to programming, as in the case of failure ofApollo 13 due to pr.ogramming erlors, loes of US $ 100 million in one year to anAmericanAirlines Company due to defect in eoftware for determining excese flight bookings, etc. Such caee studies of hardghlp caused by programming errors are too many! Many softrvare development projects go haywire due to poor underetanding of the programming concepts and poor workmanship. The right understanding of programming methodology is therefore essential for every pr.ogrammer. The programmers should attempt to keep prog1ams short; simple and elegant. Program coding should be carried out in a systematic manner without resorting to short cuts and no programning should be done in a hurry.
