This introduction to the art of Honiton lace is aimed at both the beginner and at those with experience in other laces but new to Honiton. After chapters on equipment and preparation and the basic stitches, there are five patterns, described in detail and progressive in difficulty, which have been designed to demonstrate most of the techniques of flat Honiton lace. The more commonly used techniques are specially presented for easy reference and each pattern is followed by a discussion of the working methods employed. Two closing chapters deal with mounting and design. The instructions will give the beginner both a thorough grounding in this fascinating craft and the confidence to move on to more complicated techniques and designs. The author is a teacher and lecturer on many forms of bobbin lace and a number of other lace crafts.
