~ "INTRODUCING. " ~ Jake and Jade Smith, ex-rodeo folks-fraternal twins-have had a life-changing trauma after Jake rescues one of his best buddies from a backyard bull ride gone-wrong. One that was planned by an ex-suitor of Jade's, to be the ruin of their home and lives. Their ranch is blossoming again at long last, the twins are married, but Jake will never be the same and he knows it-yet, he presses-on to be so, in whatever ways he can. Jake is no longer free to be himself and has learned to face this and redo his life-owing it all to the bond of his twin sister's love for him. Due to mouth damage, he lost his tongue, and for the most part, is mute. He has many lost-spells when facing complex issues, and has come to grips with facing grand mal (tonic clonic) seizures, all due to a head injury. Unable to read or write, signed language was the open-door back to his twin, his buddies, and reclaiming his life as a Montana rancher, trail-ride mentor, and a beloved cowboy-about-town. He's soon "back in the saddle" and succeeding, able to reflect much this success back to his local-outreach as before-daring to face the harsh set-backs that keep "hitting him in the face." Life is good once again, he sees-once he marks out his "new trail". "INTRODUCING." comes from a short story collection--Steppingstones Through Jake's Ranch, Volumes I-III-from the Jake Smith Ranch Series (four fiction novels). Four stories were taken from Volume I, and three stories from Volumes II and III. These particular pieces give insight into situations that the Smith ranch gang (family, buddies and general friends) has come through, as they head-on through life to the conclusion-story forty years later- though, not mentioned in this book. From Volume I, SHADOW IS, AS SHADOW DOES is Jade's attempt to deal with a certain aspect of Jake's seizures. CONSTRUCTION deals with thoughts on how their lives had settled back down finally, even if as a "new building" of sorts. In THE GOLD BUCKLE, Jake spends the day with a deaf man as it portrays the intricate "behind the scenes" working of overlapping relationships, when folks dare to be involved with others when they hurt. "MY JINGLEBELL TWINS, BIRTHED FROM DAYS GONE BY." is a look into Jake and Jade's past and present, and how it affects the coming Christmas season. Volume II, offers: "CATCH ME IF I FALL", where Jake has a seizure in a public place, and how this affects him. THE CRAFTING POWER OF FRAGILE STRING, proves that getting out in the public eye can teach one many things-Jakes meets a man that is truly mute in deeper ways than he is, yet, one that has the speech that he himself never will have. MOLDING THE CLAY ON HAND help folks remember that we are all part of a larger picture as Jake's buddy Matt coaches his son to press-on, and Jake's post-seizure presence helps a woman press-on. Success is-if-we just don't give up. And-new doors even appear, as Jake dares to communicate to Matt's blind in-laws-in the dark. Lastly from Volume III, perhaps things really ARE for our own good; least-wise that's what one will see in: 'PERHAPS IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.'as it shares, how Jake finds a lost part of his history, that leads to a more important part of his history--and a good deed. THE MARCH OF THE WOODEN PENGUINS is Jake's prized project that at the last minute turns traumatic from a past memory. Things that go wrong, though, can turn out for good-through love and support. THE CANDLE'S RETARDED FLAME deals with Jake's wife's love for a little sister she never knew, and Jade's thoughts on her twin's brain injury and what could have been-shedding feelings, and candle light to all. These stories are fiction, yet as you apply the principles of love and understand, and dare to reach out and share your feelings, perhaps you will find that you and your loved ones can dare to overcome-the shout of victory among friends, is a treasure of joy-no one should be without it. God bless. [via]
