About the book:

Aviation products liability has become an extremely topical issue as a result of the occurrence of several severe accidents, such as the one that took place on October 4 1992, when a Boeing crashed in the Bijlmermeer, near Amsterdam. The Bijlmermeer disaster caused great damage, ruin and distress among a great number of the Bijlmermeer inhabitants who lost their homes as well as several of their relatives. Other accidents of disastrous proportions were the Airbus accidents in France occurring in the same year. The extent to which civil aerospace products manufacturers in the EEC may be held responsible for accidents such as these and may be called into litigation as co-defendants by the victims is the central question discussed in Aviation Products Liability and Insurance in the EEC. Jean-Michel Fobe points in particular to the impact the going into force of EEC Directive 85/374 on liability for effective products may have on the liability of civil aerospace products manufacturers.
