After high school in Santiago de Chile , studied theater directing at the School of Theatre at the University of Chile. It is one of the writers in Spanish language most widely read and translated in Europe. He participated in the student movement in his country ; was arrested and later , during the military regime , was exiled . In 1980 he settled in Hamburg (Germany ) , where he worked as a writer and journalist. He has written for newspapers and magazines collaborations of Spain and Latin America. He has cultivated diverse profiles of narrative , such as chronic environmentalist travel story, the children's story , the thriller , detective fiction , crime fiction and .
