About the book:

Franklin Center, PA: The Franklin Library, 1978. First Edition, and limited. Color illustrations by Bernard Fuchs. As New; pristine. Never read nor handled, except to scan. Ribbon page-marker is, in fact, still in its original position. Large octavo, 306 pp. The true first edition; Franklin's lavish leather binding of Greene's espionage thriller - a spy, wrestling with his humanity - later made into an Otto Preminger film with a Tom Stoppard screenplay. Full rich very dark green leather, gilt decorated and imprinted, spine panels rib divided, All Edges Gilt, green silk moire end papers with matching satin page-marker ribbon. The Franklin Library, doing what they did best. Immaculately preserved. With the author's "A Special Message to the members of The First Edition Society" (prefacing the novel) with facsimile signature, and with the often-lost separate original eightfold, eight-page "Notes From the Editors" pamphlet which accompanied the book (also in Fine condition). Please review scans. L-franklin1
