› Find signed collectible books: 'After Calvin: Studies in the Development of a Theological Tradition'
This is a sequel to Richard Muller's The Unaccomodated Calvin OUP 2000). In the previous book, Muller attempted to situate Calvin's theological work in their historical context and to strip away various twentieth-century theological grids that have clouded our perceptions of the work of the Reformer. In the present book, Muller carries this approach forward, with the goal of overcoming a series of nineteenth- and twentieth-century theological frameworks characteristic of much of the scholarship on Reformed orthodoxy, or what might be called "Calvinism after Calvin." In this intriguing book, Herman Selderhuis argues that John Calvin's biblical interpretation of the Psalms is fundamentally shaped by his doctrine of God. Selderhuis minimizes references to other Calvin studies and other works by Calvin, thus allowing Calvin's theology on the Psalms to speak for itself. The book is organized thematically according to divine attributes. Reformation and Calvin scholars as well as interested Reformed readers will value this resource. [via]

Post-Reformation Reformed Dogmatics examines how specific doctrines of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries developed and their influence in shaping what we recognize today as the Protestant church. Richard Muller has undertaken this historical study to explain the development of the doctrine of this important period of church history and its ongoing relevance for the church.
These four volumes, two of which are available for the first time, examine theological preliminaries, Scripture as the foundation of theology, God's existence, attributes, and nature, and the Trinity. Available individually or as a set, they comprise a significant contribution to scholarship and are essential reading for serious students of the Reformation. [via]

The Study of Theology address two major concerns -- the place of biblical hermeneutics and practical theology. The author discusses the hermeneutical implications of biblical, historical, systematic, and practical theology and presents a case for the relationship between exegesis and the other theological disciplines. However, the relationship between hermeneutics and practical theology is also essential. According to the author, 'the traditional forms of theology and preaching frequently fail the tests of exegesis and contemporary theologizing while, at the same time, most contemporary theology and exegesis fails to address directly the needs of the church.' Muller presents a case for the structure of hermeneutics and argues that it is essential to the church because 'theological training as a whole . . . ought to reflect the life of the church and be of value to the life of the church.' › Find signed collectible books: 'The Three Big Bangs: Comet Crashes, Exploding Stars, and the Creation of the Universe'
The universe was created in the first Big Bang, but according to Philip Dauber and Richard Muller that alone couldn't have been sufficient to set the stage for life on Earth today. Two more big bangs were needed: one in the form of a supernova that seeded the solar system with heavy elements; the second a devastating asteroid or comet impact 65 million years ago that exterminated the dinosaurs and permitted the evolution of mammals and ultimately humans. The Three Big Bangs describes the science behind each of these events in a colorful manner. It provides an easily accessible survey of key theories in cosmology, but readers more familiar with these principles may yearn for greater detail and rigor. Still, as an overview of three classes of cosmological cataclysms and their role in shaping the world as we know it, The Three Big Bangs succeeds. [via]
